Over the last few days, Microsoft has suffered major outages to O365 cloud services. This has sent partners and email admins scrambling for information. How can an organization tell when its most critical services are down? Does it have to wait for the help desk calls to come in?

Communication services are critical to the functioning of an organization. As we like to say around here, an organization is a set of people and their conversations. O365 and Lync services are part of what brings an organization 21st century efficiency.

For Microsoft, the stakes are tremendous. The Microsoft Office Suite, which has been and still is at the center of Microsoft's profits, has hit a wall. For years, Microsoft had been wondering how to add value so that you would buy the next version. But this has become more and more complicated. Office 365 Migrate all that data?

 The other day I met with a customer moving to O365. They really want to get rid of the email problem. I mean really get rid of the problem. Once and for all. No emails on premise anymore. Put everything in the cloud. Really everything and when I say everything, I mean 10TB of everything. Yep, 10TB. They need tokeep everything for legal retention. Their current email system (Exchange?), holds 5TB of email from the last 20 years and they have another 5TB of personal archives that reside on computers across the network.
