- 18:20-18:30: Q&A session
- 18:30-18:45: Break – pizza & drinks provided
- 18:45-19:30: Session 2 – Open discussion: data compliance and security
Apache Solr is a search engine that can scale from a personal project to a multi-terabyte cloud hosted cluster. At the same time, this ability to scale, tune and adjust to the clients' needs, can make it hard to understand the right aspects of Solr to bring to the problem.
In session 1, Alexandre Rafalovitch (an Apache Solr committer) will do a speed run demonstrating how to create and tune a Solr instance for a hypothetical Corporate Phone Directory application. It will cover:
- The smallest learning schema/configuration required
- Rapid schema evolution workflow
- Dealing with multiple languages
- Dealing with misspellings in search
- Searching phone numbers
About the speaker: Alexandre Rafalovitch
In the recent months, a number of security breaches have affected the personal data of related individuals. In the Equifax data leak, over 140 millions citizens had their names, personal addresses, and social security numbers exposed. In the Facebook scandal, another 87 millions users were impacted with improper access of their data by third-parties.
In session 2, we will have an open discussion where the focus will be on compliance and security aspects of data circulating within the organization. Organizations have mandatory requirements to secure and manage the data generated by their employees and customers. The discussion will focus on how Solr and machine learning algorithms can be used to help enforce the security of enterprise data.
If you are interested in learning more about any of these topics, and would like to contribute or share your experiences with the group, please join us on May 3rd at 5:30 PM! All skill levels welcome. Refreshments will be served.
